I finally broke (literally) down and bought myself a little laptop to do some digital painting and what not...
Love my little Apple! Man... is it just me, or does anyone else suddenly think of Gweneth Paltrow and her kid?
Shoulda named her Grapes...
...or Melons?

Later in the day, after passing out in the friggin' scorching sunny day we had Saturday. It's Seattle, folks. We "rain" people tend to turn to steam on burning hot days. Anywaaaaays, I also purchase a super cool art program called Artrage 2. It's a very user-friendly paint program with a lot of groovy things an artist could want and it's only $20!

I met up with a buddy tonight at Cafe Vita here in Seattle and gave the laptop and Artrage2 a test spin. Here are a couple sketches I did...

it's a start and I can only get better ;)

Chic 'N Bot

Nothing really more to it. Some chic with a gun and a robot's head. Wheee!

Rock and a hard place

So I was hanging with my bro, Dev at his and Karen's super sweet new dwelling on art night with a couple of other very talented artists, Gene and Travis. I was thinking up some ideas of what to paint up next and took a flashback trip to my days of young when I got stacks of comics from my Uncle Romie. One title immediately popped in my nog. Sgt. Rock. I remember wanting to do up a painting with 'ol Rock a while back...

Dackle doodle doo

So, I was sitting there at Starbucks sippin' on a green tea latte sketching for of all things... work. I noticed this little stand display of spelling bee cards for an upcoming movie called, "Akeelah and the bee". I thought I'd break from work stuff and drew whatever word was on the card. Free paper! How can any artist pass that up?

The story thus far...

So, now I've started layin' down the first layer of the painting. Lots of layers to go...
Nothing really in the picture to give you an idea of the scale I'm working. The size of the canvas is 48x60.
I'm liking the direction it's taking, but who knows where it'll end up.

Happy '06! Brand new year and poppa's got a brand new bag. I started working on painting a buddy wanted me to do of Captain America. I've got the Drawn Quarterly DVD on and I've got only one thing to say about it... Daaaaaaaaaaamn! It's no ordinary cartoon. Anyways, here's the first sketch of 'ol cappy... Oh, and scanner's on the fritz, so here's a bad photo of it. heh... technical difficulties.
